 IMPROV FOR ADULTS

The fundamentals of improvisation are the fundamentals of life.  Listening, agreeing, forwarding action, taking care of your partner and so much more! You’ll be introduced to those lessons as you play games as well as create characters and scenes using a variety of improv and creativity exercises. Whether you want to be on stage or not, taking an improv class you’ll have the opportunity to discover more about yourself – plus you get to explore all those crazy ideas in your head in the safety of a class. Com’n…you know you want to have fun!

Instructor:  Gary Rudoren is an original member of the nationally-recognized Annoyance Theater in Chicago where he was a director/actor/writer and teacher for almost 20 years.  He also taught and directed at The Second City in Chicago and The Magnet Theater in NYC.  He is co-author of the McSweeney’s humor bible; “Comedy By The Numbers” and his plays have been performed all around the country as well as in the UK.

WINTER SCREENWRITING WORKSHOP:

SHORT FILMS

Do you want to write an original script but don’t know where to begin? In this workshop, you’ll analyze the work of successfully produced screenplays to discover the fundamentals of screenwriting and receive invaluable feedback as you create your own short script.

(Class size: 7 – 10) 

Dates: 6 Saturdays: 1/14, 1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/25

VIDEO EDITING: INTRO TO ADOBE PREMIERE PRO

This hands-on beginner workshop will cover the interface, controls, and features of the industry-standard software Adobe Premiere Pro. Whether you’re aspiring to make simple home movies, YouTube shorts, or the next Hollywood blockbuster, Premiere Pro is an affordable and user-friendly way to get the job done. Students are welcome to bring an external hard drive that stores footage they would like to edit, though it is not required.  Workshops will be held at the Montclair Art Museum. (Class size: 8-13)

Want to make a horror film or just kill it on Halloween? Professional SFX Artist Kelly Budd will teach you the tricks of the trade and how you can adapt to create real movie magic. (Class Size: 16 – 22)

FILMMAKING 101 WORKSHOPS – SOLD OUT

In this hands-on workshop, students will learn how to generate ideas for their films, and the basic fundamentals of filmmaking including storyboarding, shot composition, camera angle, lighting and sound.   With an emphasis on practical, guerilla-style filmmaking, students will discover how to bring their ideas to life and get their short films made!
