Young Alma and her mother are immigrants to the outskirts of Central Florida. On a tense morning, the ceiling in their apartment leaks and they journey to buy a ladder at a hardware store. What starts out as a simple shopping trip escalates when Alma refuses to translate, testing their codependence.
