The art of editing is a mysterious yet crucial part of filmmaking. In this conversation, two acclaimed practitioners share tales of solving problems in the edit room. Sam Pollard’s credits include editing numerous films for Spike Lee, both fiction and documentary, in addition to working with many other filmmakers. As a director, his films include several documentaries for PBS’s American Masters series as well as episodes of Eyes on the Prize. Lewis Erskine has edited acclaimed documentaries such as Freedom RidersThe Murder of Emmett Till and episodes of Ken Burn’s Jazz series.  Moderated by filmmaker and curator Shola Lynch.
