Most Americans believe the US Constitution protects gender equality. It does not. The 100 year fight for an Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) has required the tending of old wounds to forge a truly inclusive movement. RATIFIED is about the women building a truly intersectional movement for equality, fighting relentlessly against people who hide behind procedure to deny foundational protections for all people. RATIFIED asks: if our ideals – and bureaucracies – can fail, even in support of something as wildly popular as equal rights, what does that mean for our democracy?
A Q&A with Co- Director Deborah Riley Draper and Co-Creator Emily Best follows the screening.
