The Montclair Film Festival’s Signature Event Takes Place

Today, Montclair Film, New Jersey’s leading film non-profit, announced that Jon Bon Jovi will join Stephen Colbert on stage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in downtown Newark, NJ, on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 8:00 PM.The pair will sit down for an unforgettable evening of conversation celebrating Mr. Bon Jovi’s career as one of our most beloved performers.
The front man for the Grammy Award-winning band Bon Jovi has not only written and performed countless rock anthems, he has utilized his spotlight and raised millions of dollars to aid the working poor, the homeless, and the hungry. After selling more than 130 million albums and performing in over 50 countries for more than 40 million fans, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in recognition of their longevity and impact on popular music for the past three decades. Jon is also a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
His work in film includes unforgettable performances in films like MOONLIGHT AND VALENTINO, LITTLE CITY, and NO LOOKING BACK, and his role as a composer for YOUNG GUNS II earned him an Academy Award® nomination. The new docuseries THANK YOU, GOODNIGHT, which features 40 years of archival footage, songs, and performances that chart the rise of Bon Jovi from Jersey Shore clubs to the biggest stages on the planet, was released this year on Hulu.

All proceeds from this special evening will benefit Montclair Film, a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization that hosts the annual Montclair Film Festival (MFF), owns and operates Montclair’s six-screen art house cinema The Clairidge, and provides year-round film education, storytelling, and community programs throughout New Jersey that serve tens of thousands of patrons each year, and NJPAC’s arts education programming.

Jon is also the Chairman of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing about positive change and helping those in need “one SOUL at a time.” The Foundation funds partnerships that address the issues of food and shelter. Since its inception in 2006, the JBJSF has provided over 700 units of affordable and supportive housing in 11 states. Adding to these efforts, is the recently opened Walter Reed veterans housing facility which opened in October 2019, giving homes to 77 previously homeless veterans along with a stable of support services on site. In October 2011, Jon along with his wife Dorothea, opened the first JBJ Soul Kitchen nonprofit community restaurant in Red Bank, NJ. There, they created a pay-it-forward model, that serves an in-need and paying customer. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, they opened a second location in Toms River, NJ. These community restaurants have since served over 100,000 meals. In January 2020, the JBJ Soul Foundation opened a first of its kind kitchen on the Newark campus of Rutgers University to serve college students challenged by food insecurity.
About Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert hosts the Emmy and Peabody Award winning, #1 show in late night The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. From 2005 to 2014, he hosted The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, following his seven years as a correspondent on The Daily Show.
Colbert’s Spartina Industries banner has a first-look deal to develop television and streaming content for CBS Studios. Spartina’s most recent project is After Midnight, starring Taylor Tomlinson, on CBS.
Colbert previously served as Executive Producer on the Comedy Central series, Stephen Colbert Presents Tooning Out The News, Hell of a Week with Charlamagne tha God, and SHOWTIME’s Our Cartoon President. He is also an Executive Producer of Derek DelGaudio’s In & Of Itself, streaming on Hulu.
Colbert has authored six books, the most recent of which, Does This Taste Funny?, co-authored by his wife Evie McGee Colbert debuted at #3 on the New York Times Bestseller List.
