Fridays@ 505 Film

Do you love watching and talking about movies? Fridays @ 505 FILM is a chance to meet new friends and discuss the art of cinematic storytelling. Curated by Montclair Film and led by filmmaker and instructor Pamm Malveaux, the Friday Film Club will screen and analyze a range of films from popular classics to age appropriate independent features. This a special opportunity to build a community of young moviegoers looking to connect with fellow film fans in a fun, friendly and safe environment. (Capacity 12 – 30)

Filmmaking (Middle School) – Closed

In this hands-on workshop, students will develop their filmmaking skills as they produce an original film from script to screen. Students will work together as a film crew to generate ideas, master camera, lighting, and sound techniques, as well as learn the basics of editing. All of this will result in the production of our very own short film! (Class size: 8 – 10)

Dates: 10 Thursdays: 1/24 – 3/28

Screenwriters Workshop (Middle School) – Closed

Do you love visual storytelling? Through the study of successful scripts and films, we’ll talk about screenwriting craft elements and how best to utilize these techniques in your own stories. We’ll do some generative writing and revision activities. Students will create their own original short, feature, or television scripts, and present their work during table reads, where they will receive valuable feedback from their peers and instructor. Students should have a working knowledge of script format and a sense of basic story structure. Screenwriting I or Screenwriting 101 Intensive recommended. (Class size 8 – 10)

Screenwriting 101 Intensive

In this multi-generational screenwriting intensive beginner students can learn the basics of screenplay formatting, outlining, and narrative structure. Students will analyze short films and professional screenplays. No previous screenwriting experience required. Students will leave this workshop with the basic knowledge to enter Montclair Film’s Middle School, High School or Adult Screenwriting Workshop. (Class size 8 – 15)

Editing with Premiere Pro (Ages 11+) 

This hands-on beginner workshop will cover the interface, controls, and features of the industry-standard software Adobe Premiere Pro. Students will learn how to import files, combine video, still images, and music to tell their stories.(Class size: 7 – 11)

Dates: 2 Sundays: 2/10 and 2/24
Time: 10:00am – 1:00pm
