S1: Filmmaking Bootcamp I

In this hands-on filmmaking bootcamp, students will learn the art of filmmaking from script to screen. Students will work together as a film crew to generate ideas, work with actors, and master camera, lighting, and sound techniques. Students will also learn the basics of editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. In each class, students will work both behind and in front of the camera, in both exterior and interior locations, so that they can gain as much experience as possible. All of this will result in the production of our very own short film which will be screened in our in-house theater, Cinema505, at the end of the workshop. Students will also have an opportunity to learn from the masters as they screen, analyze and discuss a variety of classic and contemporary films in Cinema 505. Final films will be screened for friends and family in Cinema505 on the last day of class!

No prior filmmaking experience is required..(Class size: 8 – 12)

S1: Comedy Writing Bootcamp

Got some funny ideas? Whether they’re just in your head or on paper, now’s the time to let them out and make them real.. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of comedy sketches – creating characters, exploring scene work, and story structure. Learn some tips, hints and get feedback on how to create comedy pieces like you see on Saturday Night Live, Key & Peele, Amy Schumer and so much more. You’ll work on sketches, monologues and short film ideas to build up a portfolio of ideas… and have fun doing it. (Class size 7 – 13)

S1: High School Filmmaking

In this engaging workshop, students will be introduced to the basics of filmmaking- from the beginning stages to the final product. Working together with other students, they will generate creative ideas, work with actors, and master camera, lighting, and sound techniques.. The basics of editing with Adobe Premiere Pro will also be introduced. S1: Improv

The fundamentals of improvisation are the fundamentals of life. Listening, agreeing, forwarding action, taking care of your partner, and so much more! You’ll be introduced to these lessons as you play games as well as create characters and scenes using a variety of improv and creativity exercises. Students will develop the ability to be spontaneous and collaborative, both of which are important acting tools. By working together on unscripted scenes, students will stimulate their imaginations and tap into their ability to think on their feet and be in the moment. The goal is to have a group performance at the end of our 10 day session. Number one rule is to have fun! (Class size: 7 – 13)
