THE AMERICAN EPIC SESSIONS tells the story of recorded music in America through the lens of contemporary performance. Employing one of the first field recording machines used to capture indigenous and folk music throughout the United States, modern day musicians create new recordings directly to vinyl (the sound from which is used on the film’s soundtrack). Featured in the upcoming PBS series AMERICAN EPIC and showcasing rich, vibrant performances from some of today’s most beloved and exciting artists, AMERICAN EPIC SESSIONS is a salute to the history of recorded sound and an absolute must for music lovers of all tastes.
