Amber Tamblyn makes her directorial debut with PAINT IT BLACK, the story of the aftermath of an unexpected loss and the struggle of those left behind to hold their lives and memories together. As Josie (Alia Shawkat) searches for the key to understanding the death of her boyfriend, she finds herself both repelled by and attracted to his mother, Meredith (Janet McTeer), a strong-willed pianist who holds Josie responsible for her son’s torment. Soon, the two women find themselves drawn into a relationship that is equal parts distrust and need as they search for answers and a path to healing.
