In his follow-up to the Palme D’Or winning and Academy Award® nominated SHOPLIFTERS, Hirokazu Kore-eda leaves his native Japan for BROKERS, his first film made in South Korea. When a group of small-time hustlers set up a drop box to receive unwanted newborn babies, they undertake a scheme to sell them on the black market. But when they are forced to confront the ethical implications of their actions, their plan begins to fall apart, forcing them to make difficult choices that threaten to tear the group apart. BROKERS is a story of compassion from one of cinema’s great humanists.
In Korean with English subtitles.
