Pahokee is an isolated, economically depressed small Florida town on the shores of Lake Okeechobee, with a predominantly African American population. Filmed over the course of several years, the documentary follows four high-school students, Na’Kerria, Jocabed, Junior, and BJ, as they embark on their senior year. As they need to make profound decisions about their future, the uncertainty of their prospects looms large. Big and small fleeting moments, often disarmingly candid and intimate, are captured in this absorbing observational documentary debut from Yvette Lucas and Patrick Bresnan.
