Set during the initial hours of the Los Angeles riots unleashed by the Rodney King verdict, Justin Chon’s GOOK is a dramedy about Eli (Chon) and Daniel (David So), two Korean American brothers who own a struggling shoe store, and their unique and unlikely friendship with Kamilla (Simone Baker), an 11-year-old African American girl. With the chaos of the riots moving towards them, Eli must make the ultimate decision for the future of the store and the people he loves, and the trio are forced to defend one another while confronting the future of their dreams and the true meaning of family.
