(Montclair, New Jersey – May 25, 2011) – The Montclair Film Festival (MFF) announced today that it will host an exclusive screening of Andrew Rossi’s critically acclaimed documentary, Page One: Inside the New York Times, on Monday, June 6th.  The film, which will open in New York City on Friday, June 17^th at the Angelika and the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s new theatrical venue, the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, is a riveting and acclaimed documentary that gained unprecedented access to the New York Times newsroom and the inner workings of the paper’s Media Desk.   Showcased in the film is Montclair’s own David Carr, Media Columnist for the New York Times. The film will open in Montclair, three weeks after the MIFF screening, on June 24^th at the Clairidge Cinemas.”

Immediately after the screening, Montclair resident Jonathan Alter, award winning Bloomberg View columnist and MSNBC analyst, will moderate an audience question and answer session with David Carr to discuss the film, his position at the New York Times and the future of journalism.  The event will take place at Clearview’s Bellevue Theater at 260 Bellevue Avenue in Montclair.  Tickets will be available for the tax deductible donation of $20, with all proceeds going toward plans for the 2012 inaugural Film Festival in May.  Tickets maybe purchased athttp://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/179366 or directly at the MIFF web site at http://montclairnjfilmfestival.org/.

David Carr writes a column for the Monday Business section of the New York Times that focuses on media issues including print, digital, film, radio and television. He also works as a general assignment reporter in the Culture section of the New York Times covering all aspects of popular culture.  For the past 25 years, Carr has been writing about media as it intersects with business, culture and government. Carr began working at the Times in 2002 covering the magazine publishing industry for the Business section. Prior to arriving at the Times, Carr was a contributing writer for The Atlantic Monthly and New York Magazine, writing articles that ranged from homeland security issues to the movie industry.
