Investigating judge Iman (Missagh Zareh) grapples with paranoia amid political unrest in Tehran, but when his gun vanishes, he suspects his wife and daughters, imposing draconian measures that strain family ties as societal rules crumble. Shot amidst the recent protests for women’s rights in Iran, MFF Jury Prize winning director Mohammad Rasoulof (THERE IS NO EVIL) has created an incendiary story of state repression and the impacts and compromises it places on private lives. Rassoulof was sentenced to prison for making this film, but fled and he remains in exile. A must-see.
In Persian with English subtitles.
