Set against the final two years of America’s war in Afghanistan, IN HER HANDS tells the story of Zarifa Ghafari, one of Afghanistan’s first female mayors and, at 26 years old,  the youngest to ever hold the position. As she wages a personal battle for survival against the backdrop of her country’s accelerated unraveling, Zarifa is trapped between the indifference of the retreating Western forces and the Taliban, who have begun their sweep back to power. Amid these tectonic changes, as women across the country face a new reality, Zarifa must make the most difficult decision of her life.
