Montclair Film’s Emerging Filmmaker Lab @ Newark
Congratulations to Montclair Film’s Emerging Filmmaker Lab @ Newark Class of 2025!
Over the course of two intensive weeks, 11 young filmmakers from 6 Newark high schools immersed themselves in every aspect of the filmmaking process—developing ideas, writing scripts, and then shooting, lighting, acting in, and editing their own short films. The result is two bold, creative stories that showcase their talent, teamwork, and dedication.
Special thanks to Candace and Jeff Dobro for making this lab possible, to Anthony Perez (Lead Instructor), teaching assistants Jose Santos, Emily Alas, and Al-Jaleel Hill, as well as Rasheed Daniels, Kahane Cooperman, and Alex Shwarm for sharing their industry experience. We are also grateful to Kathleen De la Paz and Donald Payne Sr. Technical School in Newark for providing access to outstanding facilities and filmmaking equipment.
